Top BHS TREC riders compete in Surrey
Riders hoping to catch the eye of Team GB selectors made their way to Farley Heath, Surrey for a BHS TREC event (31 May-1 June).
All abilities
Almost 100 riders, of all abilities and from all around the UK, attended the three-day competition in Surrey, which raised money for theGambia Horse and Donkey Trust, The Brooke and Cancer Care.
“It was so nice to see a vast mixture of horses and riders enjoying the sport and raising money for good causes in the process,” said Lynn Roberts who runs Kilnhanger Stables, where the event was held.
Very challenging
In first place in theLevel 4 Individualwas British team rider Sue Lee with Daisy, who said the natural beauty of the area made the orienteering route “very challenging”.
“I was then thrilled with my horse putting in a great performance on a testing second day,” Sue said.
While members of the British team were aiming for a place in the European Championships in the autumn, the other riders were competing for a place in the UK and Southern Trec Leagues.
