Jet-setting Valegro arrives in New York
With his retirement date growing ever closer, the great Valegro is making a special appearance in New York City.
Charlotte Dujardin and her Olympic, World and European champion are doing a special Grand Prix Freestyle display on Saturday night as the Rolex Central Park Horse Show.
“It is always a huge privilege to come back here and be a part of this show again,” said Charlotte.
The pair were meant to take part in the 2015 show, but in the end Charlotte came without her famous partner and did a display on one of Evi Strasser’s horses.
“To be back here this year and have Valegro here for everybody to see in person is wonderful. Not many people get to see him live. I think it is great for the sport that the fans get to see him, and it is great for me that I can come here not in a competition mind and have a more relaxed time with no pressure.
“It is always really good to come here and ride with such an incredible backdrop, and I have to thank Mark, and his wife Katherine, and all of the sponsors for making this happen.”
The Rolex Central Park Horse Show got underway yesterday (Wednesday 21 September) and continues until Sunday. The event features showjumping, dressage, hunter and Arabian classes, all held in New York City’s iconic Central Park.
