Abandoned colt found covered in sores
An abandondedcolt has been rescued after being found suffering from a painful skin condition that left him covered in sores.
Investigation
When Redwings Horse Sanctuary found the cob in Thurrock, Essex on 27 May. He had lost a lot of hair on his face and body. A senior field officer put notices on his tether and feed bucket for an owner to come forward, but no-one did.
The 18-month-old was taken into Redwings care after he was found roaming around Old Chadwell school site in Tilbury, with a number of other ponies.
Now named Tilbury, after where he was rescued, the colt has received treatment and his skin problems are being investigated.
Chief executive Lynn Cutress, who was in attendance when Tilbury was discovered said the team are investing a great deal of care and attention to nurse him back to full health.
Sweet-natured
“Despite his skin condition, which must be incredibly uncomfortable and painful, he is an incredibly friendly and sweet-natured chap,” she said. “We’re very concerned about poor Tilbury and urge anyone with information about his owner or indeed about his condition to contact our welfare team.
