Scott Brash wins third GCT Grand Prix
Scott Brash has won his third Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of the season – and edges closer to retaining the championship title.
Massive
Scott isn’t letting his current incredible form go to his head, however. The world number one was keen to point out he owes his success not just to Hello Sanctos, who he said is a “privilege” to ride, but also his team.
“Great owners, great horses, great staff and this is very, very important to our success,” he said. “You only see me sitting here, but there’s a massive team behind us and it’s thanks to all of them that we’re doing well this year.”
Phenomenal
Four riders made it through to the third round against the clock in Cascais, Estoril. Scott and Hello Sanctos once again provided the fastest clear to win the class, with Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Sharbatly in second place.
Ireland’s Greg Broderick was third and German rider Christian Ahlmann was fourth.
“Sanctos loves Estoril,” said Scott. “He jumped phenomenal again today. I am delighted with him but we still have to keep going to beat Luciana.”
London event
Scott is now only 32 points behind ranking leader Luciana Diniz. The Portuguese rider had four faults in the second round, much to the dismay of the home crowd.
The Tour now heads to France to visit Chantilly (17-19 July)for the tenth round of the 2015 season. This will be followed by London (24–26 July) when the event comes toSyon Park near Kew Gardens for the first time.
