British students clean up in Nations Cup
The British University team has cleaned up at the opening leg of the Student Rider Nations Cup in Belgium, winning three golds and one silver.
Reign supreme
The competition saw 15 nations battle it out, but Britain reigned supreme.
The team, which comprised Sophie Wragg (Cardiff University), Georgie Wood (Royal Holloway) and Steph Gunn (Harper Adams University), won team gold in both the showjumping and combined (which takes into account the dressage and showjumping scores).
Steph also won individual gold in the showjumping and silver in the combined.
Amazing experience
βIt was an amazing experience, which was topped off by the success,β Steph told H&C. βI hoped to do well in the showjumping, being a showjumper myself, but didn’t expect to win.
“The standard of riders was really high, so doing well felt like a great achievement.β
The next competition will be hosted by Romania on 7-10 May.
