Is Charlotte going to leave Carl Hester to set up her own yard?
With 12 gold medals and three world records under her belt, Charlotte Dujardin has come a long way since she started work as Carl Hester’s pupil nine years ago. So, has their relationship run its course?
Far from it, says Carl, who revealed their future plans in the latest episode of Rudall Rides With… The king and queen of dressage look set to carry on their ‘rein’ (pun intended) together for many years to come.
“I love watching Charlotte ride and I love helping her,” Carl told Jenny. “So we’ll just keep on going together.”
Charlotte and Carl have changed the face of British Dressage – but they couldn’t have done it without a certain very talented, now very famous horse. With Valegro (aka Blueberry) recently retired from competition, the dressage duo are now working on future dressage stars for Charlotte and have the Tokyo Olympics in their sights.
“It’s so easy to call somebody a one-hit wonder, especially when they’ve had such a famous horse as Valegro,” said Carl. “My plan for Charlotte is to produce another one like him and keep her at the top.”
