A Christmas miracle for Jingles the pony

A pony who was left abandoned and emaciated in a field in Kent last December is looking for a brighter future after making a miraculous recovery.

Jingles was found dumped in a field in Ashford, Kent just weeks before Christmas last year. The little skewbald pony had been left in a hideous condition: underfed, riddled with worms and lice and so weak that he could not stand.

A vet attended to Jingles and he was taken in by a local rescue centre to begin a long road to recovery. “It has taken many months of specialist care and lots of TLC to nurse Jingles back to full health,” explains RSPCA equine rehoming officer, Claudia Corner.

A year on from his ordeal, Jingles is barely recognisable and is ready to find a permanent home. The gelding is expected to make 13hh, is up to date with all his vaccinations and worming, is microchipped and has a passport.

“We’re sure he’ll make a wonderful companion and riding pony,” said Claudia. Ideally, Jingles needs a home where owners have knowledge and experience of young ponies, and somewhere where he can be turned out with other horses.
