British reining squad announced for WEG
British Reining has announced the squad heading out to Normany in August for the 2014 Alltech World Equestrian Games (WEG).
Family affair
Three members of the same family are on the team, with Jessica Sternberg (24) riding alongside her auntie Francesca Sternberg (51) and uncle Doug Allen 55).
Joining them is Josh Collins, who will be competing at his first World championships.
Shane Borland, who previously competed at WEG for South Africa, will riding for Britain for the first time as an individual, after changing his nationality.
The four team riders (where the best three scores count) will also compete as individuals.
Really exciting
“It’s really exciting to be selected, this will be my fourth WEG and I’m just as excited about this one as I was for my first,” said Doug. “I think we have a good team and good horses; we have a team of experienced riders with three of us having ridden at previous WEGs and I think we have a good chance of getting things done out there.
The reining competitions take place 25-30 August in Caen.
