BEF challenge to get your friends riding

Every rider has one. A non-horsey friend with a penchant for shoe shopping a fear of everything outdoors. Well, now is your chance to show them what they’re missing.

Blahniks for boots

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is encouraging riders to share their passion with non-horsey friends – as part of its mission to get more people riding.

To get involved, you have to nominate a friend and invite them to take part in an equestrian activity with you. This could be as simple as visiting your yard, or attending an equestrian event together, or even having their first riding lesson.

If they take up the challenge, they can then share their experiences online. So why not see if you can persuade your mate to swap her Manolo Blahniks for a pair of boots?

All stories received by 31 October will enter a draw to win tickets to the Saturday afternoon performance at London’s Olympia (19 December), as well as an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour.

This Girl Can Ride

This new initiative follows the BEF’s This Girl Can Ride, which aimed to inspire women ­– particularly those aged 26 and over – to discover or rediscover their love of horses.

The campaign was part of This Girl Can, which featured a film of women taking part in sport, regardless of their shape, size or ability. To date, it’s had 13 million views.
