Zara Phillips back eventing after giving birth

Zara Phillips is aiming to compete next week for the first time since becoming a mum, just three months ago.

The Queen’s granddaughter has four horses entered for Symm International Horse Trials at Hambleden in Henley-on-Thames (19-20 April 19). High Kingdom and Black Tuxedo will compete in the Open Intermediate class, while CG Master Lux and Mr Murt are entered for the Open Novice.

Zara and her husband Mike Tindall became proud parents to their first child, Mia, in January. The event rider always planned on following in her mother Princess Ann’s footsteps, by returning to competition as soon as possible.

WEG ambitions

The 32-year-old won’t be competing at Badminton in May, although she will be walking the course along with 30 eventing enthusiasts, as part of a fund-raiser for Equestrian Team GBR.

However, Zara reportedly hopes to compete at the four-star event at Luhmuhlen in June and also has her eye on the World Equestrian Games (WEG) at the end of August.

It was her individual gold and team silver medals at WEG in 2006 that first established the royal rider as a top eventer, and in the same year she was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
