H&C fans are in a for real treat in December as we are showing SIX exciting competitions from CHI Geneva, including live coverage of the Rolex Grand Prix and the Rolex IJRC Top Ten Final.
Rolex Grand Slam
The Rolex Grand Prix is one of four Majors in the Rolex Grand Slam – the toughest competition in showjumping, offering the biggest prize money.
Any rider that can consecutively win three Majors at Geneva,`s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, Aachen in Germany, or Spruce Meadows in Canada, will receives a €1m bonus.
Scott Brash is the only rider in history to have achieved such a feat in 2015, riding Hello Sanctos.
World number one
Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt is the current Grand Slam contender, following his victory in the Rolex Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows in September. Philipp will be hoping for a second win in Geneva, but will be up against the best in showjumping, including world number one Kent Farrington.
Last year the Grand Prix was one by Brazi’s Pedro Veniss. with Scott Brash coming third. So who will take the 2017 title?
Prestigious final
In addition to the Grand Prix, we are showing live action from the Rolex IJRC Top Ten Final, as well as highlights of the Indoor Cross-Country and World Cup Driving.
The Rolex IJRC Final brings together 10 of the best riders in the International Jumping Riders Club’s (IJRC). The club includes riders ranked in the top 300, as well as those who have taken part in an Olympic Games, World or Continental Championships or at least five Nation Cups.
Previous winners of the prestigious final include Scott Brash, Kent Farrington, Billy Twomey and Eric Lamaze, who claimed last year’s title.
Thrilling event
The Indoor Cross-country event also attracts the best in equestrian sport, with world number one eventer Michael Jung heading the list of starters this year. The 1,800m course is spread over two arenas, with 29 natural obstacles, including a lake and a bank. You can expect lots of thrills and hopefully not too many spills…
Another thrilling event not to be missed is the World Cup Driving. Yet another world number one is competing, this time in the guise of Boyd Exell, who is aiming for his eighth World Cup series title. Can local lad Jérôme Voutaz, who was second in the World Cup final in Gothenburg, stop him?
