Scott Brash going after €1 million Rolex prize

Can Scott Brash pull off the Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping at Spruce Meadows on Sunday 13 September? Equestrian fans in the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands will find out first by watching the action live on Horse & Country TV.

Grand Slam

The CP International from Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada is one of three events in Rolex’s Grand Slam of Show Jumping, which also incorporates legs at Aachen and Geneva. Rolex offers a €1 million bonus to any rider who can win all three events in a row.

Now British rider Scott Brash is in pole position to win the giant prize fund, which would be the first time the Grand Slam bonus had been awarded since its creation in 2013.

Until now, no rider has even won two legs of the Grand Slam in a row to put them in line for the bonus prize – until Scott.

Hat-trick

The 28 year-old from Peebleshire in Scotland started his hat-trick run at the CHI Geneva last December, before taking the laurels at Aachen this May. In both events he rode his top horse, Hello Sanctos, the 13-year-old Belgian-bred gelding owned by Lord and Lady Harris and Lady Kirkham.

“A Major is a Grand Prix that every rider wants to win and it was one of my ultimate dreams to win in Aachen. It was a wonderful feeling and it was great reflecting on that over the past few months. But now I’m excited and looking forward to Spruce Meadows.

“What Rolex has done for the sport is incredible. They have put this series on, which is fantastic for us riders to aim for. It has really generated more publicity for the sport, a lot more people are following our journey to see if we can do it. It’s great for the sport,” Scott added.

Horse & Country TV will broadcast the Grand Prix from Spruce Meadows live in the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands, on Sunday, 13 September from 7pm BST (8pm CEST).

UK and Irish viewers can watch the event on Sky channel 253, and for those who do not have satellite TV, it is available live on H&C’s internet-based service, H&C Play.

The event will also be available on a delayed basis on H&C’s channels in Sweden and Australia several days later.
