Jodie Hall-McAteer takes one-two at HOYS
Sixteen-year-old Jodie Hall-McAteer had a dream result in the Leading Pony Showjumper of the Year at HOYS, winning with Tixylix and finishing second on Little Squire.
The 18-year-old mare Tixylix, who won this same class with Jessica Mendoza back in 2010, left the crowd in awe with her winning jump-off time of 36.93 seconds.
Emma Crawford and Moonlight Flight finished third.
“Tixylix is a phenomenal pony,” said Jodie. “She just loves her job. Every time she goes in the ring, she just knows when it is a big occasion. She can be a bit difficult in the warm-up – she does her own thing – but when she sees the lights and the crowd, she knows it’s time to do her job. HOYS is the highlight of the year for pony riders, and I haven’t won this class before, so it’s extra special.
“I am very proud, especially as it’s my last year on ponies, and it was extra special with Little Squire, who I have brought through from the start, coming second,” added Jodie.
