Will Mary King make it to Badminton?

With Badminton just two weeks away, one of the crowd’s favourite competitors is still waiting to find out if she’s going to be able to compete there.

‘Shrinking fast’

Mary King is currently at the bottom of the wait list for Badminton 2015, but with just five names above her, she is hopeful she will make a late entry.

“The wait list is shrinking fast, so I am very hopeful we will get in!” said Mary on her Facebook page.

Mary was put on the wait list as her top ride Kings Temptress had time off last year due to a tendon injury and is therefore low on FEI points.

However, the mare is back on form and ready for the ‘big one’ following her final run at Belton last weekend (17-19 April).

“It was a lovely weekend, made even better by Tess producing a pretty decent dressage test, and jumping a lovely double clear in the CIC***,” said Mary. “I just went medium speed, so finished outside of the money, but now feel well prepared for ‘the big one’!”

It’s been 15 years since Mary won Badminton, but we know if she is entered this year, she will definitely be one to watch – not least for her exhilirating cross-country riding.
