William Fox-Pitt out of intensive care

William Fox-Pitt is now out of intensive care, two weeks after his cross-country fall at Le Lion d’Angers, France.

Sedated

Fox-Pitt was kept under sedation after suffering a head trauma in the fall on Saturday 17 October.

On Monday (26th October) a statement was released saying that the 46-year-old was conscious, breathing on his own and communicating with his family and doctors, but that the rider remained “very ill”.

An update today confirmed that William’scondition has now improved enough for him to be moved out of the intensive care unit, though he remains in hospital in France.

“His family remain hugely grateful to the fantastic team looking after him and to everyone for all the messages and support,” said a British Eventing spokesperson.

Fall

William was competing at the 2015FEI World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses when he fell from his horseReinstated. The gelding was not injured in the fall.

The rider was treated by emergency teams at the scene, before being transferred to the Angers Hospital.
