Biggest names
The Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ CSIO5* in Calgary, Canada is one of the most prestigious showjumping competitions in the world.
The five-day tournament attracts the biggest names in sport, who are hoping for a slice of the Can$4.1m prize money. The main event is the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday 9 September, which we are broadcasting live on Horse & Country.
Rolex Grand Slam
The competition has an incredible prize pot of Can$3m, plus there is the chance to compete for the Rolex Grand Slam for a further €1million bonus. This goes to any rider that can consecutively win three Grand Prix at Aachen, Spruce Meadows Masters, CHI Geneva and the Dutch Masters.
Marcus Ehning is the current contender after winning the Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen in July. Also hoping to take the title in Canada is fellow German Philipp Weishaupt, who won the Grand Prix last year.
Brash is best
They will be up against the best riders from all around the world. Scott Brash has an impressive record at the Spruce Meadows Masters, having won the Grand Prix there in 2015 and 2016.
Scott is on great form following his recent win in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London.
Other riders confirmed include Maikel van der Vleuten, Abdel Said, Luciana Diniz, Lorenzo de Luca and Eric Lamaze, who won the event on home turf in 2007 and 2011.
