Visually-impaired horse victim of knife attack

A partially-blind horse has been the victim of a knife attack, which left him with serious wounds.

Deep gashes

Two-year-old Moe was grazing in his field in Ynysybwl, Wales when he was attacked, leaving deep gashes on his face, neck and hindquarters. It is believed the incident took place on between 8pm on 25 February and 10am on 26 February.

The daughter of owners James Davies found the cob, on Friday morning. When she told James about Moe’s injuries he was “absolutely shocked”.

“It didn’t sink in until Sunday, and I didn’t sleep Friday and Saturday night,” he told Wales Online.

“The horse has now been moved to a secure location, because I think whoever has done this tried to kill her.”

‘Deeply concerning’

South Wales police are have said they are doing “all they can” to identify those responsible.

“We know this incident will cause concern to the local community, in particular those people who own horses,” said police sergeant Ben Rowe.

“At the current time, we do not know what kind of motive any person would have to do this or what they were trying to achieve by carrying out this act, however it is clearly very concerning.”

A friend Dawn-Emma Bailey posted graphic pictures of Moe on her Facebook page.

Sad sickos

“I hope someone can help catch the sad sickos who decided to slash a timid, partially-blind, loving family pet,” she said.

A Facebook page called Justice for Moehas been set up, so the family can keep people up to date with the pony’s recovery.
