Three of the WEG squad have been selected to compete in the fifth leg of the series. Four of the team heading to Normandy was originally picked for the Nations Cup, but Izzy Taylor has withdrawn from WEG due to a ‘set back in training’ with Allercombe Ellie.
Britain will be represented at Aachen CICO by four riders out of Tina Cook (De Novo News), William Fox-Pitt (Chilli Morning), Piggy French (Jakarta), Izzy Taylor (Orlando) and Zara Phillips (High Kingdom). The final team will be announced at a later date.
Hard-foughtcompetition
After coming second at Strzegom, Poland the Brits are currently at the top of the FEI Nations Cup leaderboard, despite fielding riders who are relatively inexperienced at senior championship level.
“We primarily use the CICO FEI Nations Cup series to give riders experience of competing in a team environment,” explained World Class Eventing performance manager Yogi Breisner. “The exception to this is Aachen CHIO which is always popular with our riders. This year we head to Aachen with five very experienced riders.
“We hope that we will be competitive at Aachen which is always a hard fought competition that takes place in one of equestrian’s iconic venues.”
