Three horses die in fire caused by electrical fault
Three competition horses have died in a fire at a yard, which was thought to be caused by an electrical fault.
Building on fire
The owner of the property on Robin Post Lane in Hailsham, East Sussex was alerted to the fire when a young man knocked on her door at 2am Tuesday 1 December.
By the time firefighters arrived, the building was on fire and they could not save the three horses, which are believed to be worth a total £32,000.
Around £45,000 worth of equestrian equipment was also destroyed in the blaze, as were a number of sentimental items belonging to the owner.
Isolated incident
An electricity company attended the scene in the early hours of the morning to ensure the yard was safe .
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Inspector Neil Ralph said: “I’d like to reassure members of the public that this is a one-off, isolated incident, and there has been nothing similar over the past few weeks.”
