Horses with horror hooves arrive at sanctuary

Two semi-wild horses have arrived at Hillside Animal Sanctuary with terribly overgrown feet.

Neglect

The two coloured cobs are said to be insepeable. They were not only in desperate need of a farrier, they were also underweight.

“Jock and Hamish, as we’ve named them, have some of the worst overgrown and neglected feet we have seen for some time,” said a Hillside spokesperson.

Trim

One of the cobs has had a trim, possible for the first time in his life, and already his feet look massively improved.

The plan is for Hamish – whose feet are almost unrecognisable – to see a farrier today.

“Then, on Friday, both Jock and Hamish have an appointment with the vet for another important procedure – to be castrated,” added the spokesperson.

Hillside Animal Sanctuary looks after some 1,200 equines at their Norfolk base.
