Horse killed by car after vandals cut fence
A horse that was let out of his field by vandals has been killed in a road traffic accident.
Put to sleep
It is believed the horse escaped from its paddock after offenders cut holes in the wire fence.
The horse made his way onto B4035 Broughton Road in Banbury, Oxforshire where he was hit by a car at around 7.20am on 28 January. Unfortunately the horse had to be put down as a result of his injuries.
According to police the incident could have been a much worse.
‘Serious consequences’
“Antisocial behaviour is not tolerated what seems to be a bit of harmless fun can have serious consequences” said PC Paul Morse from Banbury police station.
“We were lucky today there were no serious injuries or even a fatality to any passing motorists and it is a great shame that a perfectly healthy animal has had to be put down.”
Information needed
If anyone has any information regarding who may have damaged the fence should contact the police on the non-emergency number 101.
