Horse dies in blaze at riding stables
A horse has died in a fire at riding stables, while another suffered serious burns.
Four fire crews
The fire broke out at around 2am Monday morning (21 March) at Three Chestnuts Riding Club inHatfield Heath,Essex. Seven horses were in their stables at the time of the fire.
Four fire crews tackled the blaze and by 3.50am the fire had been extinguished. A vet was also on hand to attend to the horses.
Quick actions
“Crews acted swiftly and efficiently to prevent this incident from escalating. Some of the buildings were completely destroyed by the fire,” said assistant divisional officer Len Cleary.
“One horse was confirmed deceased on arrival. The quick actions of firefighters helped rescue the remaining six horses from the stables.”
