Facebook campaign to find hit and run driver
A riding stables has started a Facebook campaign to find a hit and run driver who left a horse with horrific injuries.
‘Despicable person’
Karen Baxter from Gryffeside Livery is calling for witnesses to the accident, which took place on the B788 Auchenfoil Road between Greenock and Kilmacolm in Inverclyde, at around 5pm on Wednesday 9 March.
The rider wasn’t hurt, but the horse suffered serious injuries to his left shoulder and leg, where he was hit by the car.
The vehicle is believed to be a green 4×4, possibly Nissan X-Trail or Terrano. The driver fled from the scene and police are trying to trace him.
“The vehicle is expected to have significant damage,’ said Karen. “Let’s use the power of Facebook to find this despicable person. Please share like mad.”
Witnesses needed
In response to the Facebook campaign, local riders are calling for the council and police to intervene to prevent further accidents.
Constable John Hill from the Divisional Road Policing Unit said: “The road was reasonably busy at the time of this collision.
“I would ask anyone who witnessed either the collision itself or the vehicle involved to contact the Police on 101.”
