Linda Parelli Demo LIVE, only on Horse & Country
For the first time ever, we are LIVE streaming a demonstration from Linda Parelli at Berkshire College of Agriculture on Saturday 19 October from 7.30pm, only on Horse & Country.
You have to love horses, to want to be partners, to empower them, and to engage in a conversation rather than simply giving them instructions to follow. Some people think their techniques are important, but when you put the relationship first it impacts your feel and timing. Anyone can make a horse do something, but can you get them to want to do it?” Linda Parelli
There are three things that a horse needs to be happy. Do you know what they are? To answer this question, you need to understand the mind of the horse and know his primary needs. Unlike humans, horses don’t have a frontal lobe to the brain, so their needs are very simple: Safety, Comfort, and Play.
And, even when people know that horses need to feel safe, comfortable and get to play – they still don’t really know how to do that. For your horse to be happy, healthy, less stressed and more willing, you need to be able to resolve tension, teach them to seek relief from pressure and love learning. Understanding this will truly transform you as a leader, a rider and a horse psychologist!
A happy horse is a healthy horse, without behaviour problems. A happy horse tries harder, loves to learn, enjoys training, is healthier, and has a positive relationship with its rider.
In this rare UK demo, Linda will cover the following ideas and share with you her philosophy of training that will change the way you see things forevermore: –
- Exploring horse psychology: Safety, Comfort, Play
- How horses think, doing what’s important to them
- Applying psychology when training
- Leadership
- Rider position, effectiveness in the saddle
