Donkey found suffering with severely overgrown hooves
A donkey has been rescued by the ISPCA (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) after it was abandoned in County Limerick, Ireland.
ISPCA Inspector Walsh discovered the grey stallion donkey who appeared in fine health, but his movement had been restricted due to badly overgrown hooves.
Inspector Walsh was very concerned. “This kind of neglect is easily preventable with regular farrier treatment, and there is no excuse to let a donkey get into this state” he said.
Now recovering at the Donkey Sanctuary, the donkey is expected to make a full recovery and find a suitable new home in due course.
The donkey has no microchip and investigations are ongoing to track down his owner.
