Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro are flawless in first Rio appearance
We’ve waited two days for their test, and it was more than worth waiting for – Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro have gone into the lead in Rio.
It was a masterful, almost flawless test – a tiny loss of impulsion on the final centreline the only mistake in an otherwise textbook performance.
The 10s started flowing from the very first movement, and continued right to the end, when Charlotte garnered four 10s for her riding.
Their provisional score of 85.071% puts them almost three percent clear of Germany’s Kristina Broring-Sprehe in second.
There are still eight riders to go in the Grand Prix test, including Dutch hope Hans-Peter Minderhoud and Germany’s star Isabell Werth.
But for now, Britain is in the team silver medal position, less than one percent behind Germany. However, Germany’s lead could increase depending on the score of final rider Werth, who is due into the arena at 7.51pm BST.
