Can Andrew Nicholson claim a fourth Burghley title?

New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson will be aiming for a fourth Burghley victory at this year’s event.

Burghley will be Andrew’s first four-star competition since he suffered a serious neck injury last summer at Gatcombe. It will be a fairy-tail comeback if the New Zealander can win Burghley once again.

But a challenge awaits Nicholson, as the prestigious four-star event will play host to a number of top international riders.

Horse and rider combinations from more than 90 countries around the word will take on the famous cross-country track and hope to cement their status on the Lincolnshire venue.

However the £63,000 first prize could fall at the feet of a new eventing face this September, as the European Champion Michael Jung and Britain’s William Fox-Pitt are not entered due to their Olympic commitments.

Land Rover Burghley Event Director, Elizabeth Inman said: “The standard of entries is as high as ever this year and we look forward to welcoming some if not all of the Olympic three-day eventing medallists to Lincolnshire this autumn.”

There will be several newcomers tackling the course including Lissa Green, 27, daughter of the famous Lucinda Green and the youngest rider Imogen Gloag, 21, from Oxfordshire.
