Bruce Springsteen ‘plays for horsefeed’
We’ve heard of singing for your supper, but this is the first time we’ve come across a rock star singing for horse feed…
Not ready to retire
According to Bruce Springsteen, who is currently on tour in American, he “literally plays for horse feed night after night” to support his daughter Jessica, who is one of the USA’s top 10 showjumpers.
“Patti and I have been involved with the horse world for 20 plus years since Jess started riding when she was five years old,” Bruce told the audience at the charity event.
“Needless to say retirement is nowhere in sight for me. I literally play for horse feed night after night.”
Surprise performance
As well as funding his daughter’s riding, The Boss put in a surprise performance at a recent benefit gig for the United States Equestrian Team Foundation, of which he and his wife Patti Scialfa are honorary chairs.
“Patti and my life has been deeply enriched by our involvement in the riding world,” said Bruce. “I’ve gotten to watch the best in the world compete year after year, and I know what that takes.
“We’re here tonight to honor your focus, your hard work and your dedication. I know it’s not always an easy life, and we want to show you that we are 100 percent behind you.”
Signed guitar
Rockin’ Rio raised more than $1.5 million for the American riders competing at the Rio Olympics and Paralympics.
As well as playing live, the 66-year-old rockstar auctioned off a signed guitar and 10 VIP tickets with backstage access to one his River Tour shows for $600,000.
