Harry Charles has won the Leading Pony Showjumper of the Year at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).
Competitive class
While his Olympic gold-medallist father isn’t competing at HOYS it’s been a great show for Peter Charles, with his family enjoying two championship wins.
As you’d expect the Leading Pony Showjumper was a competitive class with eight riders achieving double clears. But none could beat Harry’s fast time of 33.35sec with Scoubidou Iv.
Fatherly advice
“It was great – I didn’t know my pony could go that fast,” saidthe 15-year-old who is currently studying for his GCSEs. “When I saw Jody go I thought maybe I was beaten this year, but my dad encouraged me and I ended up getting a win.”
Jodie Hall-Mcateer was second with Tixylix (34.09sec) just head of Charlotte Ash and Aughnashammer who came third (34.13sec).
Harry last won at HOYS in 2011 in the 128cm Championship, a title which the Charles family has held on to ever since with Sienna defending her title earlier in the week.
